Most of the posts on this blog are going to be coding-related. At the beginning, this code will almost exclusively be Android’s flavor of Java.
As a disclaimer, I will say this: I am not a coding expert. I’m no guru, no genius. As even the description above points out, I’m an amateur (at best.) Thus the code and techniques I post will likely involve a hefty amount of stupidity. In fact, I’m confident that more often than not, I’ll be doing certain things the “wrong way” instead of the “right way™.” Because of this, you probably shouldn’t take my posts as gospel or an indication of how to be good at Android game coding.
So then, if the purpose of this blog isn’t to educate, what is its purpose? Most likely, a combination of entertainment, stress relief, and general discussion. The thing is, if you have one godly coder who’s writing blog posts, then it’s hard to have a discussion - that coder is good, you are not, therefore you should learn from him/her and not argue with what the post says. Blogs like this, I feel, are hard for amateur programmers to get involved in. Usually, they merely “lurk.”
If you’re an Android app or game developer, and you want to pick apart my methods, go ahead. I think there’s an opportunity for both experts and amateurs to get involved in good coding discussions here.
Finally, the overriding purpose of this blog is as a motivational tool. In order to produce content for it, I need to dedicate the time to coding and experimenting. So right now, I’m thinking I’ll do two to three hours of coding a night and three to five posts on this blog a week about my experiences in that time. I’ll also probably be asking a lot of questions that I want answered here. Whether I get any kind of following that allows for that is probably dependent on time multiplied by the amount of content I post.
So, there you have it, my own inefficiencies and insecurities right there. Before you post some kind of flame comment about how much my coding sucks, just remember, I know it’s not perfect. I’d much rather have you post a comment about how to improve it.
